My name is Loi, and I am from Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. There was one night in September 2000 when I was on my vacation in Penang with some of my friends, all of a sudden my nose was severely bleeding. It happened twice that night. I remembered that I had had very serious headache problems since I was small. Therefore, with my friend’s company I went for an X-ray scan on my brain. The report indicated that there was nothing wrong with my brain.
Later, I went for a blood test on the 25th of September, 2000. When my blood was drawn for blood test, the hospital staff discovered that I did not have sufficient volume of blood. They had to perform a few times of hemospasia in order to obtain adequate blood volume. When the blood-test result was revealed, the doctor told me that the count of white blood cells in my body was excessive and my liver had started to undergo cirrhosis (hardening of the liver). However, the doctor was not able to tell me how bad and severe these problems would be. At the same time, he also showed me that this could be due to the long-term consumption of painkillers for headache, which was harmful to other organs in the body. I was very upset after listening to what he said. As I was still very young the doctor only gave me some medicine for the nourishment of the liver, while he also said I could try anything if I reckon that might be helpful to me.
Earlier on, as I had just been introduced by my friend to consume Lingzhi and Natural Pollen, which I had started for about a week. Due to my friend’s support I began to take Lingzhi and Natural Pollen extensively, with 30 capsules of Lingzhi and 60 capsules of Natural Pollen, divided and consumed in three portions daily. Simultaneously, I also took 4 packets of Protein Powder everyday, continuously for two months. During this period, I slept a lot and felt very tired, I also thirsted for water all the time with anguished heart pain and headache. It’s aching all over my body and my skin itched terribly. In the third month, I reduced the dosage of Lingzhi and Natural Pollen to 20 and 40 capsules per day, respectively. As before, I took them in three portions. Three months after taking Lingzhi and Natural Pollen, I went for the second blood test on the 20th of December, 2000 and the report showed that the count of white blood cells had dropped from 12,200 to 7,700, while there was also a reduction of the level of AST (GOT) from 104 to 28. ALT (GPT) had also declined from 122 to 18. The doctor was astonished as I could recover from my sickness within a very short period of time. He was so happy for me and congratulated me on my recovery.
Because of Lingzhi and Natural Pollen, I am now free from the nightmare of leukaemia and hepatocirrhosis. Apart from that, those previous minor illnesses had also been heated. Now, I am not only taking 10 capsules of Lingzhi and 20 capsules of Natural Pollen everyday, but also with 2 packets of Protein Powder and Lingzhi Hi-Fibre for healthcare purposes.
After Miss Loi had consumed Lingzhi for a short 3-month period, the count of white blood cells in her body had dropped from 12,200 to 7,700, and the level of AST (GOT) and ALT (GPT) had also dropped from 104 and 122 to 28 and 18, respectively. It has improved the conditions of initial stage of leukaemia and hepatocirrhosis, which cannot be easily cured. Recently, Shuang Hor has proven that Lingzhi is good for our liver through the amazing result of the health care product as it reduces the level of AST (GOT) and ALT (GPT) in the blood serum. Leukaemia is blood cancer, where the number of immature white blood cells present in the blood increases rapidly and as a result, these cells absorb most of the nutrients needed for other cells. In contrast, the numbers of red blood cells and platelets decline, while the level of haemoglobin also dropped resulting in the symptoms of anaemia and haemorrhage. At present, chemotherapy is the way to treat this disease in the field of medicine. However, this is not very good for patients whose body and immune system are weak. Lingzhi contains the plant-derived agglutinin, which is a kind of polysaccharide and protein complex that helps to clump and cling the cells together and tight against blood cancer in the study of leukaemia conducted through animal experimentation.
Hepatocirrhosis: The R and S acids present in Lingzhi are effective in suppressing the toxicity elicited by galactosamine from the liver cells of rats. The sterol of Lingzhi possesses the ability to inhibit the activity of toxins from the liver. Apart from that, in an experiment where part of the rat’s liver was removed, Lingzhi induced the regeneration of the organ. Taiwan is a highly Hepatitis B-infected region with the infection rate of more than 90%, where 15-20% of the patients are chronic carriers of the Hepatitis B virus as their AST (GOT) and ALT (GPT) levels are fluctuated, and therefore could not be used as a standard measurement. So, the HBV-DNA method would be a more accurate and reliable method for a standardization. The ultimate late of Hepatitis B is hepatocirrhosis, which will not happen in a year, but rather after a long period of time, even after a few decades. Within the period of the sickness, many patients could recover from the disease if they consume balanced nutrients, maintain good health and improve on their immune system. Lingzhi confers protection to the liver and plays a role in the detoxification system, in the case of animal experimentation, the application of tetrachloromethane could severely damage the liver and induces apoptosis (cell death) of the liver cells. When those Lingzhi-fed animals were compared with the infed ones, the former had a moderate damage of the liver and recovered faster than the later group. In once clinical trial conducted among 44 cases with patients tested positive with severe chronic Hepatitis B, 23 of them, or 52.3%, were found to be HBV-DNA negative after a 4-month treatment with Lingzhi, Radix Astragali seu Hedysari, and Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati. Besides, 4 of the cases comprising 9.1% showed a decreased level of concentration, and therefore the total rate of efficacy was 61.4%. There were another 4 cases or 9.1% of the patients had lost the trace of HbeAg. This showed how effective Lingzhi was in the treatment of Hepatitis B. When 20% Lingzhi syrup was used three times daily in treating hepatitis (47 chronic cases and 3 acute cases), with 20-40ml every time, two months later the recovery rate was 12%. While cases with all the subjective symptoms gone, the enlargement of liver reduced, and liver function almost normalized ware 38%. As for cases with their symptoms and subjective symptoms reduced were 48%, making up the total rate of efficacy to 98% (Human People’s Hospital, 1973).
The active constituents extracted from the fruit bodies of Lingzhi through ethanol extraction were used to make 10% of medicinal syrup in the treatment of 41 cases of non-icterohepatitis patients. The syrup was given in 20ml for 1 to 3 months, three times daily. With the treatment, 53% of the patients has restored normal liver functions, and no symptoms of the disease or any subjective symptoms were observed, with the livers of these patients shrank within 1cm underneath the costal region. Besides, 17% of the others experienced a reduction of the symptoms of the disease, where the level of transaminase approaching normal and the functions of liver were improved, in which the liver and spleen had markedly shrunk over 1cm prior to the treatment. Another 27% of the patients had reduced symptoms of the disease, improved liver function, and the level of transaminase declined to half of the initial level, which was still above 100 unit, although there was no obvious improvement of the liver and the spleen enlargement. Therefore, the total rate of efficacy was 70%, with 3% of the cases showed no significant result (Second Teaching Hospital of Human College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1973).
The active component of the cultivated Lingzhi was extracted to make medicinal syrup and was used to treat 83 cases of viral-infected hepatitis. It was shown that the total effective rate was 95.2% in which 45-60ml of the syrup was applied orally everyday for a month. At the same time, 30 cases were treated with western medication for comparison, and the total effective rate of this group was 80%, and the difference of these two groups was statistically significant (p<0.05) (Taining County Hospital, 1973).
